The Premiere of the Sad Tale of Richard Parker

Date(s) - 20/10/2021
7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Pear Tree Church

In 2020 we had planned to restage our ‘Sad Tale of Richard Parker’ production at Pear Tree Church as part of the 400 year anniversary of it’s consecration.  Sadly, due to COVID-19, it was not to be.  But the Fan Club was not daunted.  Instead of a live production we have created a special video presentation which we can’t wait to share with you.

Richard Parker was just 14 years old when he left the village of Itchen Ferry to work as a cabin boy on the yacht Mignonette in the year 1884.  What happened next changed legal history in a case that is still studied by legal scholars today.

Discover more as we premiere ‘The Sad Tale of Richard Parker’ on the big screen at Pear Tree Church on Wednesday 20th October at 7.30pm (doors open at 7.00pm).  Tickets for the premiere are FREE but need to be booked online here

As well as our latest production, and to mark Black History Month, we will also show another video created during lockdown that we are especially proud of.

Working with The United Voices of African Associations (TUVAA) we produced ‘Six Characters in Search of a History‘ telling tales of early Black history in Southampton.
